Why you should read 1984

I think that the book 1984 is an important book to read because it shows what life could be like if the government censored everything. It shows the importance of a democracy and free speech. I also think that the book is quite relative to readers today since they’re always on their phones and computers. It makes them think about a world where someone could be watching them through one of those devices. 1984 by George Orwell should stay on the list of books for students to read because it teaches us the importance of freedom, which I feel like most of us might take for granted.

I Love Old Men

Ever since I was a little girl I couldn’t help but have a thing for boys who were older than me. But not guys who were up a grade or two. I mean guys with wrinkles. Big, beautiful wrinkles. So when I first saw Winston, I just knew that he had to be mine. The boys my age always say that I have daddy issues and that’s why I can’t resist a man twice my age. But to be honest, I just like a guy who acts more mature. Winston isn’t too much older than I am but he gives of this great vibe that makes him seem so much older than he actually is. I just love to run my fingers through his balding scalp and back hair and listen to him talk about “the good ol’ days”.

Fortnite End Game Spoilers!

Howdy gamers, the boys, Asle and Cameron, are hear to entertain you through literature. Some of our favorite music includes hardcore Christian Rock, Gangsta Rap, and Fleetwood Mac. Asle is also a big fan of the Moana soundtrack.

The boys aren’t the biggest fan of Coldplay. We would rather take a bath with a toaster than listen to Coldplay.

Us gamer boys sure do enjoy the hit game, Fortnite Battle Royale. We take the “W” whenever we play the game because we’re lit.

You should totally check out the new game mode in Fortnite Battle Royale. Well gamers, that’s it for today but we do hope that you’ll come back again soon.

Time for some Allusions!!!11!1

1894 by George Orwell is just packed full of interesting allusions. We learn in the book that our main character, Winston, has a reoccurring dream where some lady keeps taking off her clothes in front of him. Winston wakes up from this dream and says the name, Shakespeare. He says this because the dream reminds of a simpler time in the past and Orwell refers to it as “the ancient time”.

Another great example of an allusion is when “The Times” is mentioned. “The Times” is a popular British newspaper that is known to be for the people and includes no government propaganda. You can see some irony in this since in the setting of 1984 the government is very controlling and “The Times” would definitely include propaganda.

Big Boy’s Initial Thoughts

The book starts off with a man walking into a building trying to escape the chilly weather and I can only assume that this man was walking to this building before the book started. He walks in to a building called the Victory Mansions and what I can only imagine that looking like is the country club but on crack. The buildings would be ten times bigger and the interior would be just the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. The scene also talks about something called a telescreen and I interpreted that as a jumbo tron of some sort. So far I know that there is a corrupt government that doesn’t believe in freedom of speech or press. I know that the protagonist goes by the name of Winston Smith and that he and lots of other folks don’t like Big Brother. After reading just a little bit of this book I think I can already tell why it was the most purchased book after President Donald Trump was elected. I can say that I am quite excited to finish this this book.

Reading Schedule

The schedule I’ve decided to follow while reading book is pretty simple. I think that there are plenty of days in class to have read and finished 1984 by the time my final blog is required to be posted. And if I think I might be a little behind I can always read my book at home. I also plan on posting blog entries on the day that they will be due but if I run behind again I can always upload one from home.

Why 1984?

I decided to pick up and read the book 1984 by George Orwell because I knew that it had something to do with a with a government that was a unfair to most and that sounded interesting to me. When Mrs. Tinkham said that this was one of the most purchased books after President Donald J. Trump was elected into office, I just had to know more about it. I feel like blogging my opinions on 1984 will be an interesting experience since I usually write a paper over a piece of material I have to read for school. I’m actually pretty excited to read through this book since Mrs. Tinkham grouped it with The Handmaid’s Tale, which is an excellent piece of literature. But that’s enough about why I’ve decided to read this, let’s actually get to reading.
